First Day School

New trimester begins as special activities are planned around Christmas and New Year holidays.

First Day School classes are beginning a new trimester. The emphasis shifts to the New Testament. New teacher teams are beginning. Regular classes will meet on December 6 and 13 then will take a break for group activities on December 20 and 27 and on January 3. The activities will center around several Christmas carols with different activities on each of the three Sundays.

Clarifying First Day School schedule.

All children who attend third grade and above are to attend meeting for worship during the first 20 minutes. They may not stay downstairs. They may attend with their family or come to their classroom before meeting and go to meeting for worship with their teachers. Kindergarteners through second graders are to go to their classroom or attend meeting for worship with their family. Children below school age are welcome in the pre-school room. The early primary class (kindergarten through 2nd grade) ends at about 11 while classes for older children end at 11:15.

For those who have been, are, may become, or have ever even considered being a First Day School teacher—a workshop on February 27 from 9 to 12.
The Religious Education Committee is sponsoring an opportunity for those who have been involved in First Day School education and those who might want to learn more about teaching to share and learn practical information about teaching First Day School.  Rosemary Armocida will provide and encourage sharing of basic teaching tips.  Joan Pine will do the same for teaching material centered on Bible stories.
The workshop’s goals are to:
1.) better equip those who on behalf of the Meeting teach our children about living in the Light; and
2.) make the teaching experience more fun and rewarding.  Please contact David Bragman (773-761-1407; dgbbanjo@sbcglobal.net) or Carol Moschandreas (847-864-7582; cvcm2006@netscape.net) for more information.

We have been blessed with an influx of many babies this year and we could use places for them to sit safely and interact with our great staff and the other kids. We would be very grateful for donations of bouncy seats and exersaucers or the like (those colorful plastic round things that babies sit up in) for the nursery.
